Heaven Walks Beside Us

Last Wednesday morning, I woke up to three text messages from one of my best friends.  Two of the messages were photographs of her son’s car.

The car had was totaled.

The following message read: “They were in an accident and the car was totaled.  By the grace of God and Angels, they walked away from this with no scratches.” Her son that was driving is 6’7”, and her other son that was in the passenger seat is 6’3”.    I thought to myself “Wow, they were lucky, especially considering how tall they are, to walk away from the accident with no scratches.” As I looked at the pictures again, my eyes gravitated toward two pennies in the driver’s seat.  Pennies are signs from loved ones in Heaven.  I instinctively knew they had been protected.  A few days before the car accident, her family had plans to visit the gravesite of a deceased loved one, Shaunda. Shaunda was a police officer who passed away in February 2013 from a fatal car accident.  My thoughts raced to the notion of Shaunda protecting them. Often, when deceased loved ones are around, you will think of them suddenly, hear their favorite song on the radio or find pennies when they are near.    As Amanda Linette Meder explains in her article titled, Pennies from Heaven: Why does my deceased loved one visit me with coins? “Currency, and in this case, small coins, is one of the main ways that humans communicate value to each other. We exchange money for work, money for goods, money for services, and even money for time. We are always expressing what we care about, what we value, in the form of providing the gift of currency. When your loved one visits you by sending small coins to appear in your path, it is a major sign: meaning: you are highly valued. Coins and currency that are used as signs from your loved one are most commonly in the rates of “1s” or “10s”, unless, of course, you have a standing inside joke about nickels with a particular grandfather! So why pennies, and why dimes? Pennies and dimes are symbolic of a few spiritual principles, and the messages they send are significant. The meaning of the number 1 is significant, as number one is usually associated with the sense of a Oneness, as in a One God, a One Spirit, or of One Body and One Spirit united, where the human body and the human spirit are in essence the same being. The number one, means unity and uniqueness of being. Thus, pennies are symbolic reminder that there is unity in the afterlife, and also a unity with yourself and your loved one visiting you - a oneness.” I was discussing the situation – in particular, the pennies - with another friend who lost her father.  The same morning I received the text messages about the car accident, my other friend contacted me about a cousin who also passed away in a car accident.   She later told me when she visited her father’s gravesite; she left pennies.  We began to discuss the symbolism of pennies from loved ones in Heaven.  The same evening when she returned home from work, she found a penny on her bathroom sink.    This situation allowed Spirit to “piggyback” by delivering messages to both friends to remind them of their loved ones in Spirit who are still around, protecting them. Spirit always answers prayers, conspires on our behalf and watches out for us.  Our relationship with Spirit is a partnership that cannot be dissolved, only enhanced.  It is our birthright.  Allow yourself to see the miracles around you.  Spirit loves us unconditionally, and because of that, we can be transformed. “If you knew Who walks beside you on the way that you have chosen, fear would be impossible.”  - A Course in Miracles    Your Soul Sister, Chayla *Read more about signs your deceased loved ones are with you on Amanda’s blog here .   I am a member of Amanda’s Membership Program .  The program is for “anyone who wants to live a more spiritually aligned and intuitively sharp lifestyle.”
